“One must become colourless while playing with colours.” – Rev. Babuji Maharaj.

Smt. Bh Devasena

1.  Dear  Brothers and sisters, my hearty pranams to all of you. I am extremely fortunate to present before you my little understanding on the statement made by our Revered Master in the article “Holi”

2.  Holi is a festival which is played with different colours. In the above article Revered Master mentions that “ I am unable to comprehend as to whether the Holi comes to get the colours distinguished or is it the manifestation of His craftsmanship? You many decide it yourself. If you ask me, then my brief reply to it would be that “ one must become colourless while playing with colours “. Now, if somehow I too get effected by the colours of Holi, then my reply to it would be part pheasant, part partride, a mixture of coherence and incoherence like that of a drunkard”.

3.  From the above paragraph Revered Master is explaining to us two different states:-

a.  one must become colourless while playing with colours.

b.  When one is effected by colours of Holi his state would be that of a drunkard, i.e a mixture of coherence and incoherence.

4.  From the above I could understand that colours are the manifestation of Divine where each one of us has a role to play and then get back to our homeland which is our destination as soon as our ride is over in this world. Homeland means to get back to our original state of purity from where we all have come. State of purity can also be understood as colourless, plainness, nothingness etc. To get back to our homeland/destination is possible only when we have goal clarity.

5.  Revered Master mentions that “That means, the base or the destination must never go out of our mind. We must ever keep our base in mind. The destination can only be arrived at by him who has become crazy  and mad after it. I do not find any other method better than this who ever has made progress in this field has adopted this very course”

6.  From the preceding sentence of Revered Master we can understand that method of PAM is the best method to be followed through which we can reach our Goal.

7.  Anything added to plainness it becomes something colourful. In colourless or purity there cannot be anything but purity. By nature we were pure (colourless) and by choice we have added colours to it. Colours can be understood as our attachments, pain, sorrow, joy, enjoyments etc. By unduly attaching ourselves to this mundane world, we added more and more colours.

8.  In the article Revered Master mentions that  “when one is effected by the colours of Holi his state would be that of a drunkard”. That means he is not coherent completely. His vision to reality is blurred then there is no clarity in his thinking and the goal is affected. The present state of humanity is that most of the people are affected by these colours and they have no idea or vision of reality i.e colourless.

9.  Now the system of PAM is an opportunity to achieve the goal of human life. To become colourless one has to get rid of the impurities which he has accumulated not only in this birth but also of several previous births.

10.                    Impurities are the coatings on the purity that blurs our vision and understanding. In the system of PAM impurities have been classified into three categories. 1. Mal, 2.Vikshep and 3.Avaranas.

11.                    Revered Sri KCN has explained about the above types of impurities in the article, Purification process, “Mala means superficial impurities or dirt that are caused by lack of control over the senses such as laziness sloth attraction to trivia and giving up impulsive tendencies towards sensory pleasures. Vikshep means the unreal projections of desires for enjoyment, such as greed, avarice, jealousy and others. Avarana means the layers of grossness due to past samsakaras or impressions in the five layers of our being named as physical, vital, mental, aspirational and ecstatic ( Annamaya, Pranamaya, Manomaya, Vijanamaya and Anandmaya)…” By practicing the purification process and with the support of Pranahuti, we can get purified of these impurities.

12.                    In the article titled PAM as published in Bodayanthi Paraspamam ( Vol-1), Revered Sri K.C.Narayana garu explains to us that we come across various colours during our spiritual journey and all these colours relate to pind desh and they come because of the avarnas that are sticking to us.  To quote, “Avarana is the one that gives the colorings  of the soul as Jains put it and as we know here in our system when we see the stages  of progress we will go through the various colours at various stages.  We start with some sort of an orange color, then we move on red then we move to white, then we move on to black or blue, then to the grey and then to the violet. These are the colours. What are these colours? These are the avaranas. The mala that we have covered, attracted and made it into a paste and rubbed on to our soul. Our soul got affected because of this. These colours that we see are the colours of various levels. This clarity only Revered Babuji gave, whereas in Jainisim they simply said that there is a colour. Colours of souls are there but could not say why it is so. Several people state several different colours. But they never could understand why it is so. Revered Babuji said because of Viveka we have go something, because of Vairagya we get something, because of understanding ourself, our nature and saswaroopa Jnana we get some other colour, because of our devotion we get some other colour, because of our surrender we get some other colour. When we are almost in layaavasta we get different colour in the pind desh. All colours relate to pind desh. No colours are available in Brahmand, except at the first stage or the second stage, no colours are present. Please note that these are the avaranas that are there. What are the avaranas that we have got? Avarnas relating to viveka, sadasadviveka, vairagya or attachment. Raga- dweshahs are there. They are also having their own colours. Then a person who is pure he has got his own colour who knows his dependence. But this has to go. His awareness that he knows something is the difficulty here. swaswaroopa jnana itself is an avarana”.

13.                    Revered Sir further explains  in the same article that as long as we think that we are enjoying or we are experiencing we should note that we have got avaranas sticking on to us still. To quote “…That is the reason why we see the colour. When we see a colour we ought to know that it is a warning. That is why babuji says do not bother about these colours. The reason for that is if we give importance to it we will stick to it more”.

14.                    From the clarification of Revered sir on avaranas we can understand that to become colourless one has to move beyond pind desh into higher states of consciousness. This is possible only when the system is followed sincerely by yielding to the Revered Master and develop moderation in all faculties of life. Every sadhaka should understand that Master is the knower, doer and enjoyer. The trusteeship concept given by Revered Master has to be followed implicitly to avoid further formation of samskaras.

15.                    The goal should always be kept in view while attending to all other duties. This is possible only when we perform our duties as a trustee of the Master. We should be vigilant in not smearing some more colours by undue attachments but should follow the system with determination to get rid of all the colours that we have already got affected to and move on to colourlessness. Revered Master has promised us that all of us can reach this state as His support is ever available to us provided we earnestly seek it.

16.                    In the article “Problem of Living” ( SS-pg 500) Revered Master explains to  us regarding the state of colourlessness that “A saint or a Mahatma is not in any way different from an ordinary worldly man except that his mind and senses are in a well disciplined state and wholly under his control. He remains free from the effect of the different hues and colours of the world and remains ever merged in his own, the one colourlessness. He attains a state of contentment and settledness which breath in an atmosphere of peace and calmness”.

17.                    The message we get from the Holi festival is that one should always be in the remembrance of the Master while living in this world with happiness, contentment, peace and calmness and yet not getting affected despite of different colours around us by not getting affected by them. This condition is made possible in the system of PAM which is a scientific system graciously presented to humanity.

18.                    On this auspicious occasion of Basanth Panchami when the Nature is blooming with beauty of colours but yet our hearts and minds are absorbed, by His grace in His thought who is colourless. Let us sincerely pray that all of us should get absorbed the thought of the Master which is food and tonic for our spiritual elevation.

With Pranams to all
